Organic Wines

In recent years we have seen sustainability, ethical farming, sustainably sourced and organic become a key decision-making factor for stocking up the fridge, freezer, and cupboards at home. Whilst organic and sustainable farming started gaining traction in the 1960’s it is now well regarded that organically grown foods have greater nutrients than foods grown conventionally.

Organic grapes grown for winemaking do not use synthetic chemicals or fertilizers. The decision to source organically reflects our belief that we could find wines made with grapes of higher quality than those grown using conventional methods. With organic wines the vines become more self-sufficient and naturally balanced, we see a greater depth of flavor and improved mouthfeel in organic wines. The vines themselves can adapt to seasonal variations, which result in consistently healthy, and well-balanced grapes. Without the use of chemical herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers in an organic wine the true fruit character and natural benefits of the land to shine through in the glass.

When we ask our suppliers what got them into the wine industry, a love of wine, although it is right up there, is never the first reason, it’s the love of the land and the opportunity to preserve it that comes first. Our producers say that if you were to rip the vines out, the soil would be healthier than when they went in.
